01Farming

54 crops. Every one is picky.

Each crop wants its own climate, soil and light. Seeds are prepared before they go in the ground, and neighbours can cross into varieties nobody else has.

Hybrid varieties
  • Read the land

Climate, soil, water, light, height, season and neighbours all count. Open /farm to see what each crop needs where you stand.

  • Prepare the seed

Raw seed is dried, threshed, soaked, chilled or cut before planting. Seven stations stand in for the steps.

  • Cross them

A ripe crop beside a different variety can set a hybrid seed. A beehive nearby makes it likelier.

  • Past the Overworld

Seven Nether crops and six End crops grow only in their own dimension, and each needs something close by: lava, soul fire or the void.

02Kitchen

Cook it. Stir it. Name it.

Stoves, pots and ovens are furniture. Stir at the right moment for a better dish, or mix what you have and see what the kitchen calls it.

  • Stir at the right time

When the pot starts to bubble, right-click it with a Ladle. A well-timed stir raises its quality. Leave a loaf in the oven too long and it burns.

  • Invent a dish

Add something the recipe does not call for and you get an invented dish with a name of its own.

  • Share a feast

Set a big dish on a table and everyone can eat from it. Meal effects pause while you are in combat.

  • Sell it on

The Nexus buys seeds, produce, dishes and drinks under Trade, Farm & Kitchen.

03Brewing

Wine gets better while you sleep.

Press it, ferment it, then roll it into a barrel. Aging runs on the real clock, and it keeps running while you are offline.

  • Barrels remember

The longer a drink sits, the better it gets. A barrel in a dark cellar below Y 50 ages faster and can gain a star.

  • Wood matters

Some brews want a particular barrel: oak, spruce, dark oak or cherry.

  • Eleven brews

Red Wine, Barley Ale, Rice Wine, Honey Mead, Golden Sake, Berry Wine, Rye Whiskey, Sorghum Baijiu, Dark Rum, Ash Ale and Chorus Plum Wine.

  • A daily routine

Food, water, shelter, space, a mild climate and a brush. Care raises affection, and affection sets the stars on what they give.

  • No cruelty, no cheating

Skip a day and output pauses. Animals never get sick and never die from neglect.

  • Milk to cheese

Milk, butter, cheese, wool, yarn, eggs in three colours, flavoured honey and beeswax, each with its own station.

  • Where and when

Ocean, river, swamp, cave and more. Some fish only bite at night, in a storm, in one season, at depth or under a full moon. Keep a journal with /fish.

  • Sashimi and more

Cut a catch on the board and the slice is drawn in the fish’s own colour. Nigiri, maki, tempura, ochazuke and unadon follow.

  • The curing rack

Hang ham, jerky and fish to dry. Light a campfire beside it and the food smokes faster and comes out a star better.

Pay for a piece, or craft it at the Carpenter’s Bench or Tailor’s Table. Your maker’s mark stays on the item.

  • Turn it with a Wrench

  • It is a raid server

Anyone can break furniture. Build with that in mind.

  • The Training Dummy

An invisible figure that takes real damage and shows your DPS, hits, crits and best round, and how fast you would kill 20 HP.

07Relics

Five relics. No two alike.

Relics are rare tools built from the parts of hard fights. The stars, one to five, are rolled when you forge. A relic can be traded, and the forger’s name stays on it.

  • Stormcaller’s FangSword

  • Tidewall MantleChestplate

  • Galewing QuillHeld

Lift off or glide. Held in hand, it softens a fall.

  • Horn of the Green YearHeld

Grows crops, feeds and heals everyone in earshot.

  • Echo of the Deep DarkHeld

Leave an echo behind, then call yourself back to it.

  • Forge under the right sky

A real thunderstorm, the deep ocean, the far End, a full-moon dawn or the Deep Dark all improve the odds of a high roll.

  • Built for monsters

Powers act on monsters or on you. None of them works within 15 seconds of fighting another player.

08Weather

Weather that travels.

Six kinds of front drift across the Overworld. Vanilla weather stays as it is. A front is a layer on top that you see and feel while you are inside it.

6
Kinds of front
  • Storm, heatwave, cold snap

Plus fog, sandstorm and aurora. A cold snap chills and a heatwave drains hunger, and neither deals damage. A roof, a fire or the right food keeps it off.

  • The Weather Station

A furniture piece. Right-click for the weather here and a rough forecast. /forecast does the same from anywhere.

  • It touches everything

Rare bites rise in storms and fog. Crops grow differently. Caravans slow down in a storm.

09Pigeon post

Send it by pigeon.

Keep birds in a loft and send a letter and a parcel to any player. The pigeon really flies, and it can be shot down.

  • Breed the best

Speed, stamina and homing are all inherited. Plumage follows the genes. Ratings run Common, Fine, Strong and Champion.

  • Letter and parcel

Attach one or two stacks to a letter with /post. Postage grows with distance and is paid to nobody.

  • Arrows count

An arrow can bring a bird down. Shoot a green player’s pigeon and the theft goes on your name.

  • Not everything flies

Shulker boxes, caravan crates, Nexus items and relics will not go by pigeon.

10Standing

Your name has a colour.

Unprovoked kills raise your standing and time lowers it. The colour of your name shows everyone where you are, and decides what a death costs.

  • Green

    The peacekeeper.

    Standing 0 to 29

    • Loses the least. A quarter of your backpack goes to Lost & Found after a monster kills you.
    • Farm, build and trade in peace.
    • Wardens are paid to hunt the other two colours.
  • Yellow

    Blood has been drawn.

    Standing 30 to 79

    • Forty percent of the backpack goes to Lost & Found, and costs more to buy back.
    • Takes a bigger share of a stolen caravan crate: 55%.
    • Can find the Smuggler’s Den.
  • Red

    A habit, not an accident.

    Standing 80 and up

    • Loses the whole backpack and half the hotbar, on the ground, with nothing to buy back.
    • Takes the biggest share of a stolen crate: 65%.
    • Gets a Wanted poster, and smoke for when it all goes wrong.

Death costs shown are for dying to monsters. Dying to another player costs more at every colour.

11The Hearth

When you die, you wake up by a fire.

Everyone respawns at The Hearth, a small inn with a fire going. What you dropped out there is kept for you, and you can buy it back before you leave.

Ways out
  • The only way in is to die

No PvP, no building, and the other guests are hidden from you. The innkeeper, Lost & Found, quest guide, Nexus guide, notice board and a standing mirror are all there.

  • Three doors

Your bed, the wild spawn, or the nearest Nexus node for a fee.

  • Lost & Found

Up to three packages wait for an hour. Pay to redeem them. Red players lose theirs for good.

12The pirate road

Take the crate. Pay for it later.

Caravans carry real money across the map, and not everyone wants them to arrive. Robbing one earns Infamy and, sooner or later, a Wanted poster.

  • The Smuggler’s Den

Find a Smuggler’s Mark in pillager outpost chests and use it near an outpost. The Den is a separate world, and you can stay up to three minutes. Its keeper is called The Fence.

  • Infamy and titles

A robbery earns Infamy. Smuggler, Corsair and Dread Captain follow, and Most Wanted at four stars.

  • Smoke bombs

Smuggler’s wares include a smoke bomb. It hides every player in a small radius for eight seconds.

  • The Wardens

Kill three outlaws who have been red for an hour or more and you earn the Warden title. Killing a red player costs you no standing.

13Paper trail

Posters, orders and a book at season’s end.

Work and reputation between players, written down.

  • Wanted postersRed players earn stars for time spent outlawed, robberies and unprovoked kills. Players pool bounties on them. Hand yourself in to buy a day of pardon. Open /contracts wanted.
  • Player ordersPost what you need: item, minimum stars, delivery node and price. The payment is held in escrow and released per item delivered. Open /contracts orders.

16Nexus caravans

Distance pays.
